This video is kind of BS. Political institutions are contributing factors, but not sole determining factors.
From my studying and understanding of politics, core-periphery theories explain unequal wealth distribution; i.e., for their to be the rich in any country, they must exploit a group elsewhere for their foundation of wealth. Although political institutions may be engineered to facilitate this, they are not the causation.
